Commercial Restroom Cleaning Checklist

Use this checklist to ensure the restrooms at your hotel, restaurant or commercial facility remain clean and healthy for customers and staff.

A good checklist needs a good workflow

In highly competitive industries like retail and hospitality, it is critical to hit the ground running with flawless execution of programs and brand standards.
Know how to build a checklist to effectively communicate, execute, and verify essential standards and programs across all sites.
When issues are found, assign corrective actions to ensure they are resolved before they affect the guest experience, the brand’s reputation, and the bottom line.

Pre-cleaning

  1. Protective equipment worn, including gloves and goggles where spraying is involved.
  2. Wet Floor signs placed inside and outside restrooms and visible to customers.

Cleaning

  1. All vents dusted.
  2. All trash receptacles emptied and pail liners replaced.
  3. Toilet paper dispenser(s) restocked as needed.
  4. Paper towel dispenser(s) restocked as needed.
  5. Soap dispensers refilled as needed.
  6. Sinks scrubbed and all smudges, buildup, and other marks removed.
  7. Faucets wiped and polished.
  8. Mirrors wiped and all smudges, fingerprints, water stains, soap buildup, and other marks removed.
  9. Countertops cleaned and all smudges, fingerprints, water stains, soap buildup, and other marks removed.
  10. All flat surfaces wiped with a cleaning/disinfecting solution.
  11. Toilets and urinals flushed to ensure they are working.
  12. Toilet bowls and urinals pre-treated with cleaner for one to two minutes before inside cleaning.
  13. Toilets and urinals exteriors cleaned.
  14. Walls and stalls spot cleaned, visible soils and stains removed.
  15. Knobs and other fixtures cleaned and disinfected.
  16. Floors swept. Debris disposed of.
  17. Floors mopped, starting from the from the back of the restroom, and moving toward the door.
  18. Vending machines restocked as needed.

Post-cleaning

  1. All equipment, materials, and supplies returned to the storage area.
  2. All equipment cleaned and maintained before being returned to storage.
  3. Restroom area checked for dryness before wet floor signs removed.
  4. Photograph taken and loaded to Bindy.
