Een coffeeshop kreeg een boete voor het niet vrijhouden van ruimte op de transactiebalie. Een restaurant, een bar en een antiekwinkel werden allemaal gedagvaard omdat ze weigerden een hulpdier binnen te laten. Dit zijn slechts een handvol winkellocaties die onlangs een schikking hebben getroffen met het Amerikaanse ministerie van Justitie wegens het niet naleven van de richtlijnen van de American with Disabilities Act (ADA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Het zijn ook niet alleen kleine retailers. De coffeeshop is onderdeel van een enorm internationaal bedrijf terwijl de kruidenier meer dan 400 vestigingen heeft. Retailers worden steeds vaker geconfronteerd met rechtszaken met betrekking tot ADA-compliance en niet alleen voor fysieke locaties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Elke ondernemer zou willen<span style=\"color: var(--color-text);\">t om boetes en slechte publiciteit te vermijden. Maar ga een minuutje achteruit en overweeg de andere kant van de medaille: in een sector waar krappe marges het verschil in overleving kunnen betekenen, is het beter om de geschatte <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/media\/releases\/2024\/s0716-Adult-disability.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">70 miljoen Amerikanen met een beperking<\/a><span style=\"color: var(--color-text);\"> zakelijk zinvol is. Het kan ook helpen om het bedrijf toekomstbestendig te maken; tegen 2030 zullen 71,5 miljoen babyboomers ouder zijn dan 65, wat extra behoeften met zich meebrengt om tegemoet te komen aan leeftijdsgerelateerde omstandigheden.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Het verbeteren van de ondersteuning voor klanten met een handicap is niet iets om met tegenzin aan te pakken, maar met een idee van een echte win-winsituatie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"in-store-accommodations\"><strong>Accommodaties in de winkel<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De ADA-eisen voor de fysieke winkellocatie zijn breed, van de parkeerplaats tot aan de kassa. Deze <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.bindy.com\/nl\/toegankelijkheidschecklist-voor-retailers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">checklist toegankelijkheid<\/a> geeft een goed overzicht van wat er nodig is op een fysieke locatie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Als deze basisprincipes aanwezig zijn, kunt u overwegen hoe het leveren van een geweldige ervaring voor klanten met een handicap ook ten goede kan komen aan andere kopers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Door ervoor te zorgen dat kleedkamers geschikt zijn voor een rolstoel, profiteren alle klanten van: <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.bindy.com\/nl\/een-gids-voor-retailers-over-naleving-van-de-americans-with-disabilities-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">de toegevoegde ruimte.<\/a> Het verplaatsen van zwaardere artikelen naar lagere schappen kan veel meer shoppers helpen dan alleen mensen met mobiliteitsproblemen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Redelijke accommodaties voor klanten met een handicap is gewoon een goede klantenservice.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Een vaste klant <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.bindy.com\/nl\/3-soorten-audits-die-parkeerterreinbeheerders-moeten-uitvoeren\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">parkeerplaats audit<\/a> kan onthullen of er obstakels zijn langs de toegankelijke route, of dat grote scheuren of verhoogde gebieden de toegang belemmeren. Dat is het leveren van de <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.bindy.com\/nl\/keeping-customers-happy-with-the-in-store-experience\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">persoonlijke ervaring<\/a> voor beide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bouw een begrip op van het bedienen van klanten met een handicap in: <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.bindy.com\/nl\/hoe-de-klantenservice-normen-te-verbeteren\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">uw klantenservicenormen<\/a>. Het Amerikaanse ministerie van landbouw publiceerde een <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nrcs.usda.gov\/Internet\/FSE_DOCUMENTS\/nrcs142p2_020448.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">richtlijn<\/a> om haar personeel te helpen beter te voldoen aan de behoeften van klanten met specifieke handicaps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Terwijl u een solide kern van klantenservice-experts opbouwt, moet u ervoor zorgen dat elke medewerker de regels kent met betrekking tot: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ada.gov\/service_animals_2010.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">dienstdieren<\/a>, aangezien dat een recent gebied van verhoogde handhaving is geweest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"online-enhancements\"><strong>Online verbeteringen<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hoewel de fysieke omgeving kostbare veranderingen met zich mee kan brengen als er een verbouwing nodig is, kan het ook iets gemakkelijker te begrijpen zijn. ADA-naleving is specifiek voor meetbare accommodaties. Het internet, een steeds belangrijker gebied voor retailers, is minder duidelijk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wat zeker is, is de toename van rechtszaken. De <a href=\"https:\/\/nrf.com\/blog\/ada-website-lawsuits-growing-problem-retailers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nationale Retail Federatie<\/a> meldde in 2018 dat het aantal website-gerelateerde ADA-rechtszaken &quot;torenhoge&quot; was. In augustus 2018, <a href=\"https:\/\/appleinsider.com\/articles\/18\/08\/20\/apple-sued-over-claims-website-is-inaccessible-to-visually-impaired-users\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Apple werd aangeklaagd<\/a>&nbsp;voor zijn website. De rechtszaak beweerde dat de website van Apple niet volledig toegankelijk was voor visueel gehandicapte consumenten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NRF merkt op dat de ADA voor het eerst werd ingevoerd ruim voor het internet. In de jaren daarna hebben een reeks soms tegenstrijdige uitspraken van federale rechtbanken geprobeerd de ADA-richtlijnen op internet toe te passen. Het Worldwide Web Consortium (W3C), het bestuursorgaan van het web, ontwikkelde zijn <a href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/WAI\/fundamentals\/accessibility-intro\/#context\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">eigen richtlijnen<\/a> voor elementaire webtoegankelijkheid. Deze richtlijnen omvatten alles, van ontwerp en kleurgebruik tot woordkeuze van koppen en linktekst.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In wezen moet de internetpagina toegankelijk zijn voor alle gebruikers, ongeacht of ze een visuele of auditieve beperking hebben of spraak gebruiken om te navigeren. Gebruik het juiste contrast in kleuren en tekstbeschrijvingen van bijvoorbeeld afbeeldingen en video&#039;s. CAPTCHA-zinnen, ontworpen om spammers te blokkeren, kunnen mensen met een visuele beperking hinderen als er geen audioalternatief beschikbaar is. Linktekst moet specifiek zijn over waar de gebruiker naartoe gaat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Net zoals de verbeteringen in de winkel alle shoppers ten goede kunnen komen, zijn deze <a href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/WAI\/fundamentals\/accessibility-principles\/#standards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">toegankelijkheidsprincipes<\/a> zijn elementen van goed webdesign en kunnen de online ervaring voor iedereen verbeteren.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large has-lightbox\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bindy.com\/about\/switch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.bindy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Bindy-Banner-ads-with-Iph13_LinkedIn-1-copie-17-800.png?w=700&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7423\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"conclusion\"><strong>Conclusie <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bedenk dat ongeveer \u00e9\u00e9n op de zes klanten die een winkellocatie betreden, baat zou kunnen hebben bij een of andere vorm van fysieke of mentale accommodatie. Het is een enorm publiek om te negeren. En een enorme kans om te overwegen.
